Tracy Darrell Adkins, born January 13, 1962, is an American country music singer from Sarepta, Louisiana. Trace Adkins began playing music as part of The New Commitments, then moved on to playing in honky tonk bars in the early 1990s. Trace Adkins' debut was 1996's Dreamin' Out Loud which included a number of hits. Trace Adkins' follow-up, Big Time, however, saw meager sales in comparison and 1999's More was similarly disappointing. Trace Adkins' fourth album, 2001's Chrome yielded a top-ten hit in I'm Tryin. Trace Adkins' recent video for Honky Tonk Badonkadonk demonstrates the recent cross-pollination between the crunk hip hop and pop country genres. The juxtaposition of cowboy hats and jewelry exemplifies the radical trajectory that Trace Adkins' work has taken over the past decade.
