Merriweather Post Pavilion (MPP), named for cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, is an outdoor concert venue located among Symphony Woods, a 40-acre lot of preserved land that sits in the heart of the planned community of Columbia, Maryland. Merriweather Post Pavilion was designed by award-winning architect Frank Gehry and opened in 1967. The current capacity is 16,500. On June 15th of 2006 Vans Warped Tour started the tour at Merriweather Post Pavilion, that was also the first time Vans Warped Tour had come to Merriweather. On June 20th of 2000, Britney Spears opened her Oops!... I Did It Again World Tour at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. High schools in Howard County, Maryland, hold their graduation ceremonies at Merriweather Post Pavilion in either late May or early June of each year.
