Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band based out of Calabasas, CA. The story behind the name Incubus, is that apparently the band needed to think of a name shortly before their first show, so Mike Einziger looked in a dictionary and chose Incubus because it had the word sex in the definition. Throughout 1994, Incubus found time in their schedules to write, record, and perform shows. Incubus released their first full length album on their own label, titled Stopuglynailfungus Music on Chillum. Touring throughout 1996, Incubus established themselves as a top draw live act, gaining a dedicated following up and down the west coast of the United States. After relentless work in the studio, Make Yourself was released on October 26, 1999.
